Aberdeen's Matty Kennedy plotting Rangers revenge after Ibrox defeat 'hurt'

Matty Kennedy looked around the dressing room at Ibrox and could tell how much his team-mates were hurting.

Aberdeen suffered a 4-1 defeat to Rangers last time the clubs met back in October - despite having gone ahead through a Connor Barron strike.

Winger Kennedy, 28, didn't feature in the defeat but wasn't spared the same feeling of his team-mates of having let the fans down.

It's little wonder then that Kennedy is desperate to get revenge on Rangers tonight.

“There have been three games this season that have hurt us - Livingston away, Dundee United away and Rangers.

“I could sense around the changing room the boys want to make it up to the fans as we let them down in those games.

“We were hurt by the Rangers' loss and we did let people down.

“We feel this is a game we need to put a performance on for the fans as they are the most important part of the football club.

“We want to show them what we can do against big teams."

Kennedy knows how quickly things can change in football and is desperate to achieve a positive result against Rangers to add to a "brilliant" season so far.

“I totally understand," he said of the fan frustrations after defeat to Celtic. “When we were walking around and clapping the stands, I think 95 or 90 percent of the fans were positive and clapping us off.  We were unlucky and most were being positive.

“There, obviously, were others who are also entitled to their opinions because it is their football club and they are the most important thing."

He added: “Just because we have come back after five weeks and got beat off the champions, people will think we are not doing well but it is all positive at this great club.
