Aberdeen fans react to Jim Goodwin news as Dave Cormack slammed for 'weak leadership'

Aberdeen fans have reacted angrily to Dave Cormack giving Jim Goodwin one last chance to turn round his fortunes at Pittodrie.

The chairman announced earlier this evening that the Irishman would remain in the dugout despite being knocked out the Scottish Cup at the fourth round stage by West of Scotland junior side Darvel on Monday. Many supporters called for Goodwin's head after the 5-0 thrashing against Hearts last week, however he survived that and the humiliation in Ayrshire earlier this week.

A board meeting took place this afternoon where the future of the 41-year-old was a key topic of debate but he is set to carry on in his role and will take charge of Saturday's trip to Hibernian. Cormack revealed the "football monitoring board, comprising Stewart Milne, Willie Garner, Steven Gunn and me" decided it was right that Goodwin be given a chance reverse the slump after the World Cup break.

Moments after the announcement supporters quickly turned on the board. Here's how some of the fans responded:

Stan and Ollie film director and Dons fan Jon S. Baird responded: "Wow. Just f*****g wow." @Thedandies1903 wrote on Twitter: "Happy him staying, he smart guy! Just get rid of the board now as we know they pull strings who to sign who not too! Least milne left managers too it now go bk usa cormack."

While @colinpirie3 said: "Sadly time for fans to vote with their feet. Not being listened to. Need a stronger voice. Just embarrassing currently." @skoskur tweeted: "Seriously ?? I didn't think we could have been a bigger laughing stock than we were on Monday..... well played."

Mike Rennie said: "What AFC achieved 40 years ago no longer defines us as a club. What happened on Monday night does, now. There are, very sadly, more ambitious football clubs available in this city now."

Sean Ewing responded: "Very poor, there is no way back from Monday. State of the art training complex so it’s either rubbish coaching ability, rubbish selections or inability to realise where the issues are…mostly at CH, what is it 6 days of the window left and nothing in."

@StevieG1978 added: "Not surprising really. If there's one thing this club excels at it's weak leadership. Just postponing the inevitable. What aspect is the last game makes you think senior players are behind the manager?"
