Aberdeen star Lewis Ferguson is believed to be closing in on a £3million transfer to Italian side Bologna, which would net a sizeable sell-on fee to Hamilton Accies.
The New Douglas Park club wanted £1.2million for the midfield ace, but a tribunal om 2018 ruled they should receive £250,000 'plus add-ons' which was believed to be a sell-on fee.
Scotland international Ferguson is on his way to Italy after a fee was agreed between Aberdeen and Bologna.
Ferguson, 22, from Hamilton, had previously been targeted by clubs such as Millwall and Lecce.
Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin wanted to keep the Scottish star, but with two years left on his contract, £3million was too much to turn down, and Ferguson is heading over for a medical.
Goodwin was quoted as saying: "With Lewis we are well aware of the speculation.
"I don't want to pull the wool over anybody's eyes or anything. He took a bad knock in one of those games for Scotland, and we have just been trying to protect him and make sure we don't ask too much of him too early on. It's as simple as that, really."
