Abandoned dog found tied outside house next to heartbreaking sign from its owner

An abandoned dog was found tied up outside a home with a heartbreaking note left nearby.

The pooch was discovered curled up with no food or water in the town of Stafford, BirminghamLive reports.

The animal was also wearing an electric collar when he was found lying on a patch of grass on September 27.

Good Samaritan Sophie rescued the dog and shared a picture of the handwritten note left next to the pooch.

The sign said: "Hello! My name is Woody. I am looking for a family.

"I love children and am cat friendly. If interested, please give the door a knock."

The note was signed off with a picture of a paw print.

On the day she took him, Sophie said: "It looks like it has been there for a couple of days.

"There were empty dog bowls next to him and an electric collar on the dog. So tonight, we rescued the dog and took it to a warm home, fed him and gave him water.

"How can anyone be so cruel and spiteful to an animal? Don't buy a dog if you can't look after it."

Sophie told BlackCountryLive that she rang the police but was told she would need to speak to the RSPCA regarding the matter.

She added that someone she knows has now taken Woody in.

"My friend has taken him in for a loving forever home," she said.

It comes after a dog that was found with "faeces-matted fur" finally found his forever home.

Little Milo, a Shih Tzu, was so poorly that rescue workers struggled to distinguish between his head and rear because of the state of his fur.

He was found in January last year in a small pen in Ireland.

His cage was so small he had no choice but to live among his mess which caused his poo to get clumped into his fur.

Milo was found in the filthy pen with Springer Spaniel named Gizmo.

Both pooches were found shivering and limping from the neglectful conditions.

They were both surrendered to the ISPCA following an unrelated complaint.

Gizmo unfortunately had to be put down to prevent further suffering after he was found with a series of health issues.

Both dogs were surrendered to the ISPCA in January 2021 after an unrelated complaint, but when taken into care Gizmo was found to have a range of health issues and was euthanised to prevent further suffering.

After months of care from charity workers, MIlo has made a full recovery and be rehomed with a loving family.
