Aaron Rodgers X-Rays Negative, But Ruled Out Remainder of Game

Aaron Rodgers’s Jets debut may have prematurely ended in disaster, but the star quarterback still managed to receive some measure of good news following his Monday night injury.

Rodgers, 39, was ruled out after just four plays against the Bills after suffering an ankle injury after taking a sack from Buffalo pass rusher Leonard Floyd in the first quarter. While the 19-year veteran’s exit marked a crushing blow for New York, the team provided an encouraging update after announcing Rodgers’s X-Rays came back negative.

Given the optics of his injury, the confirmation of Rodgers avoiding a fracture, at least, bodes well, to some degree, regarding his status. Of course, the coming days will be pivotal for both the Jets and Rodgers, who was carted to the locker room and fitted with a walking boot, with an official diagnosis still pending.

The ankle injury cut short a highly-anticipated season opener at MetLife Stadium for Rodgers before it ever got going, with the former MVP finishing the night 0–of–1 across three snaps.
