There has been a lot of speculation about the possibility of Aaron Rodgers being traded to the Jets this offseason.
Last week, the Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett, Rodgers’ former offensive coordinator in Green Bay. Then during Tuesday’s weekly segment on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers had nothing but great things to say about Hackett.
“Love Hack. Hack is my guy,” Rodgers said, “Love him and Megan and the kids.
“They’re really special to me. We really bonded when he was in Green Bay. He made it fun. He made the room fun. He made the weeks fun.”
Rodgers is still deciding if he will return for his 19th season in the league. He also has yet to decide whether he will return to Green Bay or with another team.
“It’s going to be a little more time for my decision,” Rodgers said. “I feel confident that in a couple of weeks. I’ll feel definitely more strongly about one of the two decisions.”
Earlier this week, ESPN reported that trading Rodgers remains an option for the Packers. The reasons why include the state of the franchise and that Rodgers is due $59.5 million in 2023 and $49.25 million in 2024.
Green Bay is coming off an 8-9 season in which it missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018. Another reason the Packers could be looking to move on from Rodgers is the team has to decide on quarterback Jordan Love’s fifth-year option by May 1. If Green Bay decides to exercise Love’s option, it would be worth $20 million guaranteed.
“It sounds like there’s already conversations going on that aren’t involving me,” Rodgers said. “That’s very interesting. Honestly, I’ve been insulated to a lot of that.
“I was in Nashville and I’ll be up here [at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am] this week playing in the tournament. So, I’m not part of those conversations right now. When I make up my mind one way or the other, you guys and the Packers and everyone else will know at some point.”
