Aaron Rodgers' Odell Beckham Jr wish justified as Green Bay Packers lose to New York Giants

The Green Bay Packers lost their first-ever NFL London game as they couldn't hold off the New York Giants, and they're still lacking something within their offensive line.

Aaron Rodgers found both Allen Lazard and Mercedes Lewis free in the endzone at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but it wasn't enough as they lost 27-22 to the Giants. The quarterback has already hinted that he'd love to link up with free agent Odell Beckham Jr, and the Packers should seriously consider his wish.

Lewis remains the only ever former first-round draft pick that Rodgers has ever thrown to for a touchdown, and they're crying out for an experienced receiver to lead them to Super Bowl glory. Although currently injured, Beckham Jr is a free agent, and the Packers would be silly not to try and pick him up.

Rodgers may have extended his stay at Lambeau Field during the off-season, but the Packers said goodbye to Davante Adams who left for Las Vegas. The Rodgers-Adams partnership was one of the strongest in the NFL, and the Packers are yet to hand him a worthy replacement.

Romeo Doubs is already looking like a star for the future, with the rookie scoring two touchdowns already in his debut season. But Sammy Watkins isn't enough for Rodgers, and the experienced Beckham Jr could fill the void.

Beckham Jr's future is unknown, with the LA Rams reportedly keen to re-sign their Super Bowl winning receiver. But Rodgers hinted that he'd love for him to come to Wisconsin.

"Odell and I have been friends for a number of years now," Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show. "And so we keep in contact often. We've talked various times over the years and obviously with a player like that, you're always hoping there's a time when you can figure things out and play together."

Beckham Jr still has so much to give in his NFL career, and the Packers would be the perfect fit for the 29-year-old. Adams was Rodgers' main man, but although he still has options, he doesn't have that star receiver that would bring a mixture of energy, athleticism, experience and innovation to the camp.

The Packers may have gone close against the Giants on Sunday, but they had Randall Cobb to thank for that as the Green Bay veteran was the only reliable option for Rodgers. While Cobb caught for near enough 100 yards, his team-mates let Rodgers down as they struggled to wriggle free downfield.

Even during a crucial period in the fourth quarter Lazard failed to hold on to a routine pass, and it arguably cost them the game. Rodgers may still be forcing touchdowns, but the frustration is still etched on his face.

Rodgers is one of the best quarterback's the NFL has ever seen, but it's been a common theme over his career that he's been left short of game-winning options, especially when it comes down to it in the post-season. Rodgers isn't asking for much, and seeing as Green Bay are investing so heavily in him, they'd be silly not to grant his request.

Beckham Jr's fitness is the main concern, but he's proved at the Giants, the Cleveland Browns, and the Rams that when he's at his best, there's no stopping him. Rodgers only has one Super Bowl ring, Beckham Jr scooped up one last season, and they will have a great chance to pick up another if they are brought together.
