Wales boss Rob Page insists Aaron Ramsey won't be "undercooked" for their crucial World Cup playoff clash with Austria.
The playmaker has struggled for fitness during his loan move to the Scottish champions from Juventus, but earned his second Rangers start in the Scottish Cup clash with Dundee.
Ramsey will be in contention to feature against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday in the Europa League as he looks to ramp up his game time and Ibrox impact.
Despite a lacklustre spell in Glasgow so far, Page has kept the faith with Ramsey and drafted him into the squad for the Cardiff City Stadium showdown later this month.
Ramsey and Co will be hoping to see off their Austrian rivals and face either Scotland or Ukraine in a decider for a place Qatar 2022.
The selection of Ramsey alongside Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale raised some eyebrows among fans.
Skipper Bale has only featured twice for Real since the end of August, with his only start coming against Villarreal in LaLiga last month.
Despite his stuttering start to life in Glasgow, Page sees no reason why Ramsey can't recapture his best form for his country in the one-off playoff.
When asked of the duo of Ramsey and teammate Bale could be "undercooked", Page said: “We took Aaron to the Czech Republic (in October) and we were concerned about the two games back-to-back and I thought he was outstanding in both games.
"We got to an hour in the second game (against Estonia) and come 60, 70 minutes he was still on there shaking his head, saying, ‘I’m fine’. When they put that jersey on, they go to another level. They just keep going.
“I don’t think we’ve ever had a camp where we’ve had all our players playing the weekend before. But big players turn up for big games and they’ve proven that over time.
"The other way of looking at it is they’ll be fresh and raring to go. They’re fighting fit and raring to go. They have done it time and time again. They’ll have their individual programmes to make sure that come Thursday they’re in peak condition.”
