Aaron Ramsey to Rangers transfer terms 'revealed' as more questions raised over permanent buy option

Rangers may not have a direct option to buy Aaron Ramsey in the summer as new reports in Italy have cast confusion over the deal.

Ramsey joined Rangers on loan until the end of the season in one of the most sensational deadline day transfers Scottish football has ever seen.

He arrives at Ibrox in search of regular first-team football after struggling at Juventus this season.

Initially, it was believed that Rangers had the option to sign Ramsey permanently in the summer for a fee around £5m.

But that was cast into doubt when a statement released by Juve appeared to indicate it was a straight loan deal instead.

The Serie A side made no mention of a potential fee - something they are obligated to do by Italian law if a fee has been agreed.

They went into detail over the deal that took Dejan Kulusevski to Tottenham but there was no mention of any finances in Ramsey's loan announcement later in the day.

But while that seemed to dent Rangers' hopes of keeping him beyond the summer, a new report from Sky in Italy might have explained the confusion.

They say that while there is no pre-agreed transfer fee, Rangers instead have a "purchase pre-emption" option.

This means Gers have "priority to negotiate in advance" with Juve. And while that means any negotiations will be far more complicated than just triggering a clause, it does leave Rangers firmly in pole position should they decide to pursue a permanent deal.

It just means the finances now are up for negotiation with Juve fee to set their own price depending on how he fares at Rangers.

Rangers fans may get their first look at Ramsey on the pitch this weekend Gio van Bronckhorst hinted his debut could come against Hearts.

He said on Friday: "Aaron Ramsey had a session on Friday that also went really good.

"We have to assess him today but he looks good as well. So we can add more players on Sunday."
