Aaron Ramsey opens up on Nice transfer as former Rangers man makes 'full circle' statement

Aaron Ramsey has opened up on his decision to make the move to France with Nice.

The former Rangers loanee completed a move to the Ligue 1 outfit and made an instant impact on his debut by scoring with virtually his first touch to secure an opening day draw away to Toulouse. Giovanni van Bronckhorst snapped up the Wales international in the blockbuster loan move from Juventus back in January but his time in Glasgow was plagued by niggling injuries with the move not working out as planned for both parties.

Ramsey signed off with a Scottish Cup winners medal after Rangers' win over Hearts at Hampden but he was the unfortunate player to miss in the Europa League Final shootout as Frankfurt came out on top in Seville. A permanent move to Govan never materialised and now with Wales in World Cup action later this year, Ramsey is fully concentrating on getting back to his best at his new club. He is joined by a familiar face in Kasper Schmeichel who has left former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City for a new adventure in France's top flight.

Speaking to Sky Sports about his decision, Ramsey said: The project that they want to try and achieve here was very inviting for me and exciting to be part of.

"Obviously I went to Juventus and experienced that and now I have experienced that, coming here is a lot easier for me. I know what to expect."

On teaming up with old pal Kasper, he added: "I played against him many a time and played with him at Cardiff many, many years ago. It has come full circle and we are back team-mates again. We've played a lot of games together and played at the highest level as well.

Hopefully we can have an influence on some things and help some of the younger players even though these days they don't need it as much.

"Of course that is really important for me [World Cup]. But right now I want to concentrate on Nice and get up to match speed as quickly as possible and help my team-mates.
