Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka deliver William Saliba stance ahead of England vs France

Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale has admitted that he and Bukayo Saka will have no contact with their Arsenal team-mate William Saliba ahead of their World Cup quarter-final meeting. Saka and Ramsdale's England are set to face Saliba's France in the quarter-finals on Saturday evening, although he has revealed they have not spoken in the build up to the fixture.

The Gunners trio have all played a significant role in Mikel Arteta's side sitting top of the Premier League table with 12 wins from 14 games. However, they will be on opposite sides in Qatar, as their two respective nations collide in a pivotal quarter-final match.

England eased through their last-16 knockout tie against Senegal to set up an enticing meeting with the world champions. While France comfortably swept aside Poland with Kylian Mbappe as the star of the show.

Ahead of the game, plenty has been discussed about Mbappe and his likely foe for the 90 minutes Kyle Walker, but the Manchester City defender has insisted that although he will play against "one of the best in the world" he will not "roll out a red carpet" for the 23-year-old.

Elsewhere, Liverpool and France defender Ibrahima Konate revealed he has been speaking to club team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold in the week leading up to the game, but Ramsdale explained that for him and Saka that was not going to be the case.

When asked by talkSPORT on whether he had heard from Saliba over the last few days, Ramsdale said: "No, nothing. I asked Bukayo this morning if he spoke to him and he said he hasn’t.

“That automatically stopped me from texting him. I saw him speaking in a press conference about [Gabriel] Jesus, and that he hasn’t spoke to him. So it’s the French team vs the English, there are no friends."
