Arsenal have been linked with a summer transfer move for Bologna full back Aaron Hickey. Primarily a left-back, Hickey joined the Italian club in 2020 from Hearts and has gone from strength to strength in Serie A.
Able to operate at right-back as well, the 19-year-old is seen as not just a viable back-up to Kieran Tierney down the left but also cover for Takehiro Tomiyasu down the right.
Both defenders have missed large chunks of time this season due to injury, leaving the Gunners short at the back in key games. Though Cedric and Nuno Tavares have deputised throughout the season in place for the aforementioned Tomiyasu and Tierney, both have failed to put in regular performances required at this level.
