Aaron Darge leaves Hearts on loan transfer as he joins Hibs rival Kanayo Megwa at Kelty Hearts

Hearts have sent out defender Aaron Darge on loan to Kelty Hearts.

The stopper - who has been the skipper of the B team in the Lowland League - will step up into senior football for the rest of the campaign in Scottish League One. The Maroon Machine already snapped up Kanayo Megwa on a loan deal from Hibs earlier today after he put pen to paper on a new two-year-deal at Easter Road.

Now boss John Potter has added further depth to his defensive line by grabbing Darge from city rivals Hearts. He's made 21 appearances to date in Scotland's fifth tier. He can also operate just in front of the back line as a holding midfielder and will bring versatility to his new side for the remainder of the campaign.

A short Hearts message confirming the deal read: "Arron Darge has completed a loan move to @KeltyHeartsFC until the end of the season. Best of luck at New Central Park."

A Kelty Hearts club statement added: "Kelty Hearts FC are also delighted to announce the signing of the defender, Arron Darge, on loan from Heart of Midlothian until the end of the season.

"The central defender joins the Maroon Machine after spending the campaign captaining the Hearts B team within the Lowland League, making 21 appearances in total.

"Arron can play as a central defender, or just in front of the defence as a holding midfielder. He will wear the number 6 shirt.

"Welcome to New Central Park Arron!"
