Aaron Carter's career as he's branded the 'Justin Bieber of the nineties' by fans

Aaron Carter's career started when he was just nine years old after his famous brother Nick Carter had him support Backstreet Boys on tour.

Fans were left devastated after the singer was found dead in a bathtub at his home in California today aged 34.

His passing has sparked nostalgic posts from his supporters, who branded him "the Justin Bieber " of the nineties.

As well as supporting the nineties' favourite boy band, he's been on stage moments before Britney Spears on her Oops!... I Did It Again tour.

He joined his first band "Dead End" when he was just seven years old and released his self-titled debut album when he was nine.

The full-length album, which came out in 1997 achieved gold status in Norway, Spain, Denmark, Canada and Germany.

His second studio album, Aaron's Party (Come And Get It), was released in 2000 and went triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

It featured the singles I Want Candy, Aaron's Party (Come Get It) and That's How I Beat Shaq.

When he was 13, he teamed up with his brother Nick for a duet on his album "Oh, Aaron".

He went on to release three more studio albums, 2001's Oh Aaron, 2002's Another Earthquake! and 2018's Love.

Carter also tried his hand at acting, guest starring on shows including Lizzie McGuire and making his Broadway debut in 2001 as JoJo the Who in Seussical The Musical.

As well as his vocal talent, Aaron played the drums, piano, guitar and saxophone.

His older sister, Leslie Carter, was also a singer and she opened for Aaron on his 2001 tour.

She tragically passed away from an accidental drug overdose in 2012 after battling bipolar disorder.

Fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to the artist, with many commenting on the influence his music had on them.

One user tweeted, "If you didn't live the Aaron Carter experience with the drop of 'Aaron's Party; back in the day, you missed out. The essence of early-2000s pop culture."

Another added, "Damn Aaron Carter was my Justin Bieber when I was coming up I still remember when he appeared on the Lizzie McGuire Show he was a swagged-out young kid."

"Before Justin Bieber, there was Aaron Carter who had all the 90s girls in a chokehold. RIP," a third wrote.

The singer was found at his home after police officers receieved a 911 call at 11am.

His representatives confirmed his death earlier this evening.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said that a suspicious death took place at Carter's property - but could not confirm the identity.

"Right now it’s a really bad time we’re trying to figure out what happened and what the cause of it was,” a representative from the singer’s team told the PA news agency.

“We’re just as upset as everyone and hope that fans can give thoughts and prayers to his family.”
