Traffic Scotland has confirmed the road has now reopened in both directions.
THE A9 has been closed in both directions at Alness due to a collision.
Traffic Scotland has urged people to avoid the area after posting an update a little after 2pm on Monday, June 3.
On Twitter/X, Traffic Scotland said: “#A9 CLOSED in BOTH DIRECTIONS at the junction with the #B9176 due to a collision.
It also confirmed that a diversion route has now been put in place. Cars travelling Northbound were told: "Turn left at B817 junction onto B817 and follow the road through Alness to the A9/B817 Junction -thereafter follow permanent signing."
Southbound traffic meanwhile was told: "Turn right onto the B817 Junction at Dalmore and follow the road through Alness to the A9/B817 Junction and Skiach - thereafter follow permanent signing."
“Police and Triss are aware and en route.”
People were encouraged to use alternative routes where possible and anyone with any “trunk road related queries” were urged to contact Traffic Scotland.
Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
