A busy carriageway has been reopened after a fatal crash on Wednesday (May 4) morning. It comes as police have launched an investigation after a man died in the serious collision on the A453 in Nottingham.
Nottinghamshire Police were called to the scene after two vehicles crashed on the A453 Remembrance Way, near Ratcliffe-on-Soar, at around 4.48am. Traffic monitoring site Inrix reports one vehicle involved was a motorbike. The collision happened from Green Street in Clifton and West Leake Lane, in Ratcliffe on Soar.
The outbound carriageway of the A453 from Mill Hill Roundabout, next to the Clifton South tram stop, stayed shut for most of the day with traffic building up in the area. Green Street to Barton-in-Fabis was also closed.
Traffic has reopened on A453 Remembrance Way Southbound just before 6.15pm, traffic monitoring website Inrix reports. It comes after warning advising motorists to avoid the area was issued, and traffic was brought to a standstill in the area.
In a traffic update, the website Inrix said: "A453 Remembrance Way Southbound re-opened, traffic returned to normal, recovery work completed and earlier accident investigation work from Mill Hill Roundabout (Clifton) to West Leake Turn Off (Kegworth). Previous congestion to surrounding routes including the A52 Clifton Boulevard and the A52 Derby Road as traffiic seeks an alternative route towards the M1."
