A busy stretch of the A453 Remembrance Way running past Ratcliffe on Soar will remain closed until the afternoon following a serious motorbike crash. The busy carriageway was closed southbound between the A52 and the A50 and junction 24 of the M1 near East Midlands Airport.
According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, the crash, which involved a motorbike, happened from Green Street in Clifton and West Leake Lane, in Ratcliffe on Soar. Inrix reports that the A453 southbound will remain closed into the afternoon due to investigation work.
A spokesman for National Highways: East Midlands confirmed the latest. He said: "The A453 southbound will remain closed by Nottinghamshire Police until early afternoon to allow for collision investigation to take place following a serious collision."

However, traffic is passing northbound - but this is said to be slow. In an earlier statement, Highways England said: "The A453 in Nottinghamshire is closed southbound between the A52 and M1/A50 (near Wilford) due to a serious collision.
"Emergency services including Nottinghamshire Police are currently on scene." Police said earlier the A453 had been closed near the roundabout for the Clifton South tram stop.
The closure of the A453 to the M1 is from Mill Hill Roundabout. Traffic outbound is being turned around at Mill Hill and sent back into Clifton. Traffic on the A453 has been tailing back all the way back to the M1. Drivers have been urged to divert.
