The A1 northbound in Newry reopened just before 6am today following a serious road traffic collision on Tuesday evening.
The road remained shut during the early hours and traffic was diverted off at the Old Dublin Road as investigation work was carried out. Motorists were urged to allow more time for their journeys.
In an alert at 5.42am, road and traffic monitoring service Inrix said: "A1 Northbound re-opened, earlier accident investigation work between Dorans Hill and A25 Camlough Road (Carnbane Interchange). The road has reopened following an accident yesterday evening closing the road overnight."

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash near the Camlough Road Roundabout last night. Several fire crews were pictured as darkness and rain fell on Tuesday evening.
A statement from PSNI Newry, Mourne and Down at around 8pm said: "The A1 Northbound just before the Camlough Road roundabout is closed due to a road traffic collision this evening, Tuesday October 25. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative main routes for their journey."
