A way-too-thorough breakdown of Le’Veon Bell’s analogy of Pixar’s A Bug’s Life and RB contracts

Is that a Mad Libs headline up there?

I assure you it is not. With all the talk about running back contracts — actually, it’s the lack thereof for big-name players who deserve the money but may decline during said contracts — former Jets and Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell took to Twitter to compare what was going on with Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs and others to … A Bug’s Life.

Again: Not a typo. He really did that. And you know what? It’s not a bad comparison! It’s just a little weird.

We decided to break this whole thing down and see if it works:

Here's the tweet

OK, so the ants in the movie go get food and they have to give it to the grasshoppers. Classic owners/players comparison.

But is Bell = Flik?

(DISNEY/PIXAR ANIMATION STUDIOS

Remember, Flik destroys the system that’s set up by accidentally busting up the food.

As you might recall, Bell held out for an entire season in 2018 as he hoped the Steelers would pay him after a HUGE fifth season for the team that drafted him. He eventually became a free agent and signed with the Jets in 2019.

Did he make more comparisons?

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Sure did!

Conclusion: It sort of works!

Thanks, Le’Veon!
