A study of human psychology - Love Island is certainly educational for some viewers

We’re only just over a week into the new series, but there’s already been some animal magnetism on screen in Love Island.

One couple got frisky in full view of the cameras during the show’s most X-rated date ever.

Last night’s episode saw French communications manager Mehdi Edno, 26, take 25-year-old London entrepreneur Whitney Adebayo on a romantic tandem ride before settling by a lake to appreciate some beautiful scenic views.

But their date was interrupted by some frisky frogs. In ribbeting scenes that Sir David Attenborough would have been proud of, the cameras zoomed in to capture the hoppy couple.

Mehdi provided some whimsical commentary, telling Whitney: “They’re making love.” (He used a few other euphemisms for this as well, ahem.) There must be something in the water.

Meanwhile, the show’s actual narrator Iain Stirling has a theory on why we’re all so glued to the series – we all enjoy watching people get taken down a peg or two.

Speaking about the contestants, Iain told Heart FM: “They’re all attractive people and they aren’t used to not being the most desirable person in the room.

“I think it’s quite an interesting psychological journey… it’s weird that they then have to go ‘Well what am I, if I’m not the best-looking one?’”

A study of human psychology and a candid look at the reproductive behaviour of amphibians… who says Love Island isn’t educational?
