A step away from Paris, Sarvesh lifts high jump gold, Ujwal ends Nagpur's Day 1 drought with bronze

Sarvesh Kushare Gold Nashik Kolhapur Maharashtra

NAGPUR: The opening day of Maharashtra 72nd Senior State Athletics Championship being hosted by Nagpur after 45 years was a dampener of sorts and a case of missed opportunities for the home athletes to make podium finish. The lone bright spot on the city's horizon was Ujwal Kalsait's hammer throw bronze for the city late in the evening after some of the city's star athletes' dismal morning session.

Nashik men and women athletes stamped their supremacy at the Nagpur University track pocketing five gold medals on Saturday.
