It’s been a wildly entertaining and dramatic Friday in the baseball world, with MLB fans refreshing their social media feeds every few seconds to see if Shohei Ohtani made his free agency decision.
There are fans watching a plane that may have him on it that’s headed to Toronto. There are people guessing the name of his dog with the rumor that it has to do with a team he’s considering. And then there are reports flying around.
There was this from blog Dodger Nation that dropped on Friday afternoon: “The wait is over: Shohei Ohtani is signing with the Toronto Blue Jays. According to multiple sources who spoke with Dodgers Nation on Friday, the two-way superstar has ended the suspense of the most lucrative free-agent pursuit in baseball history. A formal announcement is expected as early as tonight.”
Not long after that, however came these posts:
Source tells me and @ShiDavidi there is at present no decision made by Shohei Ohtani, nor is there a timeline for a decision#BlueJays are a finalist. We'll see where it leads.

A representative of his agency, CAA, would not comment when asked about Ohtani’s travel plans.

Shohei Ohtani is NOT in Toronto.
