An Oregon company has recalled nearly 2,000 pounds of frozen raw pet food distributed to retail stores nationwide after federal testing found Salmonella in one product and both Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes in the other.
Pet food recalls usually get covered as a pet story. This one has a household health dimension; the FDA notice states directly: there is a risk to people from handling contaminated pet products, particularly if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after touching the food, the surfaces it reached, or an infected animal.
