Prolonged protests in Delhi could put business transactions worth up to Rs 4,400 crore at risk over 10 days, based on estimates by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), as disruptions to traffic, customer footfall and goods movement threaten commercial activity during the crucial festive and wedding season.
Praveen Khandelwal, BJP MP from Chandni Chowk and CAIT Secretary General, told ANI that business transactions worth more than Rs 400 crore could be affected daily if disruptions persist. The estimate is based on Delhi's average daily business turnover of around Rs 2,200 crore and an assumed 20% decline in activity.
