A Place in the Sun stars Jasmine Harman and Jonnie Irwin reunite at fan event

A Place in the Sun hosts Jasmine Harman and Jonnie Irwin have been reunited at a live exhibition event in Manchester amid Jonnie's tragic terminal cancer battle.

Jasmine, 47, gave fans a sneak peek behind the scenes at A Place in the Sun Live, a spin-off from the main Channel 4 property show.

And as part of the clips, the TV host shared a heartwarming snap with co-star Jonnie Irwin, who made a remarkable return to work despite his terminal illness.

Jasmine and Jonnie beamed in the photograph as they showed off their best smiles for the camera.

The property expert beauty wrote a lengthy caption looking back on the event, where she paid a heartfelt tribute to her co-star and revealed some of the touching words he shared during his speech.

She wrote: "Really super weekend at A Place in the Sun Live in Manchester. So many people, all wanting to live the dream of owning a property overseas."

Jasmine continued to detail that she had come across some of the programme's house hunters at the event before paying tribute to Jonnie.

She added: "And what a pleasure to see my pal Jonnie, who inspired everyone with his advice: “Why wait?” whilst we were on stage talking about seizing the moment. See you at the next one!"

It comes as Jonnie, 49, made his welcome return to A Place in the Sun at the weekend after he was axed from the main Channel 4 programme following his heartbreaking diagnosis.

Revealing his exciting venture back hard at work, Jonnie shared a photo of his outfit for the day laid out on his bed the night before on Saturday in a bid to be prepared for the day ahead.

Informing fans of his plans, he wrote: "Selecting wardrobe for @aplaceinthesunofficial LIVE Tomorrow in Manchester.

"It’s an early start and as I’m not fit enough to run for the train atm I’m prepping the night before.

"My wife can’t quite believe it! Cold weather calls for wool, wool, and more wool."

Dad-of-three Jonnie revealed his terminal cancer diagnosis last year when he was told the devastating news he had only months to live in 2020 facing a battle with lung cancer which had spread to his brain.

The star originally chose to keep his illness low-key, but has since opened up as he revealed he is making as many memories as possible with wife Jessica Holmes, who he tied the knot with in 2016, and their three sons - Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.

The 49-year-old went public with his prognosis in November 2022 after being told by doctors he had just months to live.

Co-star Jasmine was one of the first colleagues to send her pal well-wishes when the presenter shared his heartbreaking news. Sharing a message of support, she wrote on Instagram: "Sending lots of love and support to my great friend and original partner in crime @jonnieirwintv.

"I know it has taken bravery to share your story. As ever a true inspiration & always positive and up for a laugh no matter what the circumstances. Love to you and your beautiful family [heart emoji] #inspirational #friends #brave #positivity."

Scots co-star Danni Menzies also spoke out about the 'heartbreaking' news of her co-star's illness as she prepared to meet fans at The Ideal Home show. She said: “Yeah, Jonnie is… It's incredibly heartbreaking.

“But Jonnie's such a legend, the way that he's been super strong,” she continued. “And you know, he's still managing to get out and work. Yeah, he's an absolute inspiration, Jonnie. And I love him a lot.”

Jonnie announced in February he had started Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. This involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurised environment.

It's believed that flooding the body with concentrated oxygen can make cancer cells easier to kill with treatments like chemotherapy and radiation while also activating the healing process in a patient's body.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4 and All 4.
