A Place in the Sun star Jean Johansson takes part in Resist Racism rally in Glasgow

A Place in the Sun star Jean Johansson attended an anti-discrimination march which was held in Glasgow today encouraging others to stand up to racism.

The popular TV host posted a snap of herself showing her support at the rally which took place in George Square, holding up a board which read: "NO TO RACISM".

Hundreds gathered in the city centre to take part in the 'Resist Racism' event which was organised by Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) in partnership with the Trades Union Congress (TUC).

Alongside Jean's post she shared the hashtags: " #PeopleMakeGlasgow #ResistRacism."

Standing up to racism is something Jean is extremely passionate and last year, the star fronted a powerful documentary 'The Truth About Scotland And Racism' as part of the BBC Disclosure series.

In the documentary, Jean opened up about racist abuse she'd experienced as a youngster growing up in Port Glasgow.

The mum-of-one also shared stories from others who had similar experiences.

Speaking prior to the documentary airing, Jean said: “After making this documentary, I was shocked and appalled by the racism that exists in this country.

“From a little girl too afraid to go to school for fear of abuse, to a shopkeeper who employs a white person behind the till to make the community feel more comfortable –we should all be ashamed.

“Making the programme has made me realise we have gone backwards and have a long, and perhaps impossible, way to go to fix things.”

You can watch the documentary on BBC iPlayer.
