A Place In The Sun's Jonnie Irwin enjoys family Santa visit on his 'last Christmas'

Jonnie Irwin is making the most of his "last Christmas" by enjoying a visit to see Santa with his wife and young son.

The former A Place In The Sun presenter revealed last month he has terminal cancer and was given six months to live by doctors.

But he's been insistent on continuing life as normal as possible and the 49-year-old has shared snaps of the trio enjoying making memories with some quality festive time together.

Jonnie, who is a dad of two, shared three snaps of himself alongside wife Jess and their three-year-old son Rex on a visit to see Saint Nick. His twins, Rafa and Cormac, who are two years old, were absent from the pics.

Taking to his Instagram, the presenter shared a string of images with his 133k followers, captioning the upload: "Ok, I’ve given in, Christmas is here! Nothingbtondonwith the mince pies and mulled wine on offer at all! Merry Christmas! X"

The first snap saw the three beaming as they stood next to two reindeer toys, before the second saw the tot speaking to Santa.

The third photo was of the trio celebrating with the man in red, before another pic showed them enjoying a festive drink in a wood cabin. The final upload saw the three of them in front of a picturesque snowy backdrop.

Fans were quick to send sweet messages in the comments section, with one writing: "Rex is telling Santa a thing or two! Lovely photos of a fun time! Positivity prevails!!"

Another penned: "I can't say enough about how precious these pictures are. You and Jess are such good parents. Rex is definitely having the time of his life!"

Jonnie first revealed his sad diagnosis last month, candidly telling Hello his lung cancer had spread to his brain before admitting: "I don’t know how long I have left."

He said the first warning sign of his illness came while he was filming A Place In The Sun in August 2020 in Italy, when his vision became blurry while driving.

"Within a week of flying back from filming, I was being given six months to live," he opened up. " I had to go home and tell my wife, who was looking after our babies, that she was on her own pretty much. That was devastating."

He has since discussed how he is approaching the upcoming festive season and paid tribute to his wife and their "perfect partnership".

"I'd be lying if I didn't say that Christmas will be tricky," he told the Sun, before admitting he doesn't know how long he has left so he wants to "enjoy it and just spend time with Jess and the kids."
