A Place In The Sun host Jonnie Irwin has revealed he’s back in hospital as he shared an update on his terminal cancer battle.
The Leicestershire born star, 49, was given just six months to live when he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer – which has since spread to his brain – in August 2020, and publicly shared his prognosis in November.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Irwin, who has been undergoing brain therapy, revealed that he was back in hospital to monitor changes in his medication to help manage his pain.
The presenter is due to appear at A Place In The Sun Live at London’s Kensington on Sunday and told his followers that he had his “fingers crossed” that he would make it.
He said: “In hospital this week monitoring a changeover in my pain management regime.
“Fingers crossed I’ll be out in time to make an appearance on Sunday for this weekends A Place In The Sun LIVE event at Olympia in Kensington. Hope to see you there.”
Following his social media update, fans took to the comment section to tell the presenter they were praying for him.
One follower wrote: “Hope you are well enough to be there. Everyone is looking forward to seeing you there.”
“Fingers crossed for you hope you get the pain relief you need! Loved you on that show,” a second shared.
A third added: “Sending best wishes Jonny! You’re my favourite on A Place in the Sun and on Escape!”
Recently, the Channel 4 presenter was left in tears as he revealed how he and wife Jessica, 40, have only spoke about the reality of his prognosis after he was left at “death’s door twice” due to his cancer.
He shared on the OneChat podcast with AIG life: “The programme is to try and remain positive. Positive for me is burying my head in the sand a bit.
“Jess and I don’t talk about it much and we’ve been close to death’s door a few times now. Twice at least.
“Apart from those times we’ve not really talked about it. Financially we’re slowly getting stuff in place, transferring account details and putting stuff in her name but being positive [is] such an important factor. I do that by not talking about it too much.”
