A Place In The Sun host Jean Johansson's comment leaves couple in tears

A Place In The Sun host Jean Johansson left one couple in tears with her comments during Friday's episode.

Rick and Inge were joined by Scots property expert Jean as she helped the couple hunt for their dream holiday home. The married couple were looking for a detached villa in Tala, Western Cyprus with an impressive budget of £260,000.

The pair also wanted to ensure their ideal home came with a lot of outdoor space as they planned to adopt cats, as well as a "mancave" for Rick. Jean had five stunning potential homes as close to their budget as possible for the buyers, and was immediately off to a good start.

The first property, a three-bedroom villa on the market for just over £262,000, was a definite contender. The home came with a pool and patio, as well as an artist’s studio as well as a bathroom.

Jean must have been buzzing with her selections as throughout the episode Rick and Inge also liked properties two, three and four. However, the 41-year-old had definitely saved the best for last.

Standing outside the last property, Jean was confident and declared: "I think this could possibly beat the others".

The final home shown to Rick and Inge was the stunning three-bedroom bungalow, complete with a patio wrapped around the entire home. The home also came with a spacious garden and roof terrace with beautiful sea views from their house.

Inge was thrilled with the last pick and said it was "just the right size" and "spacious, but cosy". However, the only downside was that this holiday home was slightly over budget and priced at £282,000.

After debating between themselves, Rick and Inge decided they'd like to put an offer in, though just shy of £10,000 under the asking price at £272,000.

Tension was high among the trio as Jean put in their offer and waited to hear back whether it was accepted or not. As the vendor called her back, Jean looked concerned putting as Rick and Inge watched on nervously.

She told him and Inge: "Okay, I have some information for you. The offer... has been accepted," as Rick burst into tears following her announcement. While an elated Inge hugged a sobbing Rick, Jean added: "Congratulations, you two have been such great company. I wish you the best of luck".

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4 and All 4.
