A 21-month-old boy in West Virginia went to bed with a pacifier and woke up crying. When his parents looked into the crib, the pacifier was clamped over his left thumb, and the skin from his knuckle to the tip had gone pale.
Pediatricians at West Virginia University say it is the first published report of a pacifier causing a suction blister on a child's finger, described in SAGE Open Medical Case Reports.
