Two native Kosovar musicians and a Japanese conductor will collaborate with the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra in a cross-cultural concert at the Main Hall of Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek Road, on Friday at 7.30pm.

Held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of bilateral relations between Thailand and Kosovo, the "Thai-Kosovo Friendship Concert" will feature violinist Sihana Badivuku and soprano Besa Llugiqi, both from Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. Conducting the orchestra will be Toshio Yanagisawa, who also works mainly in the former Yugoslavia.

The evening will highlight Symphony No.2 by Kosovar composer Kreshnik Alicakaj, who aspires to promote peace among all nations around the world. The programme also includes Camille Saint-Saëns' Introduction And Rondo Capriccioso For Violin And Orchestra, Maurice Ravel's Tzigane For Violin And Orchestra, Antonin Dvorak's Slavonic Dances Nos.2&7, and Manuel de Falla's Three-Cornered Hat Suite No.2.

Badivuku graduated with a master's degree from the Moscow State Conservatory in 1991. She played with distinguished artists in chamber ensembles and held concerts in Kosova, Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Russia, Finland, Ireland, Spain, Slovenia and the US.

Llugiqi's operatic debut at Tirana State Opera House as Liù in Turandot in 2011 has led to engagements at numerous opera houses and international festivals. She also won the 2013 Grand Prix Award at the International Competition Elena Nikolai in Bulgaria.

Tickets cost 400, 800, 1,200, 1,600 and 2,000 baht and can be purchased from thaiticketmajor.com.
