A Moose Got Loose In a BMW Dealership and Trampled Two Classic Cars

The moose test evaluates how a car handles in an emergency, like avoiding a giant, deadly animal in the middle of the road. But over the weekend, several BMWs underwent a different kind of moose test when one monstrous specimen broke into Schmiedmann Sweden, an aftermarket shop specializing in BMWs—and it was all caught on video.

The incident occurred when CEO Viktor Örtegren stopped by the property to store his speedboat for the winter. While there, he heard a noise inside and went to investigate, thinking a customer had stopped by.

Nope. Instead, Örtegren watched a huge moose walk past him into the garage. He immediately hid, afraid the animal was stressed and would attack. Thankfully, it didn’t, and Örtegren did what everyone else would do in that situation: Pulled out his phone and started recording.

The video shows the moose rearing onto its hind legs and slamming its front hooves onto the hood of a freshly painted BMW 850i, which was nearly fully restored for a customer, causing serious damage. The moose dented the BMW, poked a hole through its front fascia, and scratched the paint. It also damaged one of Örtegren’s employee’s cars.

While Örtegren is upset at the damage, he is happy the animal and innocent bystanders weren’t hurt. The moose eventually completed its evaluation of the two classic BMWs before leaving the garage, crossing a busy highway, and disappearing into the woods.
