A month after lifting curbs, SWR yet to provide blankets, linen on trains

BENGALURU: It has been a month since the railway ministry, citing a decline in Covid cases, withdrew restrictions on the supply of blankets and linen, but many passengers say South Western Railway (SWR) is yet to offer them.

As a result, passengers travelling on long-distance trains, especially in AC coaches, have to bring their own blankets. On March 10, the railways lifted restrictions on providing blankets, bed sheets and pillows in trains with immediate effect and said they would be provided in trains like in pre-Covid times. The provision of blankets, bed sheets, pillows and curtains was originally withdrawn in May 2020 from all AC coaches to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
