The bank accounts of 32-year-old Ahmad Jahangard Takalo, who lives in Van, were put under review after around 1 trillion lira of funds with no clear origin appeared in his bank account.
With the unexplained money included, Takalo’s account showed a balance of roughly 21.8 billion dollars, a sum that could place him among the world’s richest. However, because of a block imposed by the bank, Takalo has been unable to access his accounts for about a month.
According to NTV, Takalo, who was born in Azerbaijan and has been living in Turkey for about 10 years, went to his bank branch to find out what was happening after he was unable to pay with his bank card during a supermarket shop. The examination reportedly showed an available balance of 999 billion 999 million 999 thousand 999 lira and 99 kuruş in his account.
Takalo said he had no information about how the money in question had ended up in his account. Because of the extraordinary balance, his accounts were placed under investigation and the bank also froze them.
Speaking to NTV, Takalo said he had requested information from the bank, but that he had not been given a detailed explanation because the review was still ongoing.
Takalo said he had even put his situation to artificial-intelligence applications, and that the replies suggested a budget of this size could be used to carry out major infrastructure projects or to purchase substantial quantities of gold.
