A look inside Charlotte Crosby's baby shower - from drag queens to 'mortal' pals

Charlotte Crosby's baby shower was a far from disappointing occasion - despite torrential rain making an attempt to ruin the star's plans.

In true Geordie Shore fashion, the chaotic party was celebrated at Charlotte's impressive Sunderland mansion - and didn't wrap up until 4am after a series of party games, bouncing music and wild challenges for guests.

Some thirty guests attended the event, with familiar faces in the form of Sophie Kasaei, Holly Hagan, Marnie Simpson and Nathan Henry arriving from 3pm onwards on August 20.

The Mirror reports that cocktails were on offer from the onset and throughout for attendees, who were seated outside for a stunning two-course meal. Lamb kofta or chilli-cheese arancini balls were dished up for starters, with a choice of veggie risotto, fish and chips and stuffed chicken with potato dauphinoise for the mains.

“At 4pm, we sat down outside for the meal and the rain started hammering down,” Charlotte told OK! Magazine. “Honestly, I’ve never felt heavier rain! People tried putting napkins over their heads but not even a napkin could save us, so we ran into the house.

"I was like, ‘How can I seat 30 people in my house for dinner?’ I had people at the breakfast bar, around the dining table, at the actual bar on bar stools, and people sat on the settee. At that point I was like, ‘This has gone to pot!’”

Despite being heavily pregnant, Charlotte planned the entire event herself, with a TV crew from BBC Three filming the party - so stress was being piled on the mother to-be. And despite a hoot of a night for friends and family, there were some complications due to the weather.

She was forced to abandon an epic assault course set up in the garden as the party was brought inside due to the torrential downpour. In the house was an equally out-there game, ‘Stick the Sperm’, which featured a cut-out of Jake’s face with a “big pair of balls at the bottom”, was set up in the house.

Sophie lead the drinking games as the evening came around, taking the microphone and arranging attendees into teams. Amongst guests were In The Style owners Adam Frisby and Jamie Corbett, five girlfriends Charlotte’s known since school, her glam squad and mum Letitia Crosby, who was joined by Jake’s mum, Natalie Barr.

At 8pm, following hours of booze and party games, Charlotte introduced her show-stopping big reveal, a live drag queen show.

She said: “Thank god my house is so open-plan because wherever you were sitting inside, you could see the drag queens. They just walked in the front door and onto this raised bit of kitchen I’ve got that was like a stage.

"Everyone went wild! People were standing on the tables and waving their pink candyfloss around.”

She says nobody knew they were coming and it was 'a big surprise'.

Charlotte says she and the GS girls have been trying to go to a Beyoncé drag brunch for 'so long' but have never been able to get tickets due to busy schedules and fast-selling tickets. Dodging the drink, for obvious reasons, she admitted feeling a bit of FOMO watching her pals get black-out drunk into the early hours of the morning.

She admitted she was more than happy to avoid the hangover the following day. Despite her guests partying until 4am, Charlotte says she slipped off at around midnight without anyone noticing.

Boyfriend Jake arrived home and stayed with all the party guests to make sure they got to their beds safely – with most staying at the couple’s home. Charlotte says everyone was very ill the next day, but that didn’t stop the reality TV star cooking everyone a big fry-up, setting them up for the day.
