Love him or hate him, Tom Brady is undoubtedly the most accomplished NFL player of all time. The NFL is going to miss him.
Nobody has had as much sustained success as Brady in a league where parity rules more often than not. Somehow, Brady managed to cling to the top of the mountain without ever letting go. No matter who the competition was, Brady somehow always seemed to persevere.
As a result, he just retired — allegedly— with some pretty impressive stats and records that will be hard to eclipse. Here’s a look at his final numbers and where they rank all-time in NFL history.
Brady's 649 passing touchdowns are the most of all time
Brady’s got the NFL’s touchdown record by quite a bit. Drew Brees is second behind him with 571 touchdowns. Aaron Rodgers is the closest active player with 475.
So is his total of 89,214 passing yards
Along with passing touchdowns, Brady’s got the NFL’s record for passing yards by nearly 10,000 yards. Nobody is going to break this one anytime soon.
His 12,050 passing attempts are the most in league history by a mile
To have lots of passing yards, you’ve got to have a lot of passing attempts. Brady has the most passing attempts in NFL history with 12,050. That’s a lot of trust his coaches put in him over the years.
Which, naturally, means his 7,753 completions are the most ever, too
Along with all of those attempts, Brady has 7,753 completions which is the most in NFL history. Matt Ryan is the second closest active player to Brady with 5,551.
His Passer Rating is 97.2
This was quite a surprise. Brady’s 97.2 passer rating only ranks 10th all-time right now, mostly behind lots of players who are still active in the NFL. However, Rodgers (103.2) and Brees (98.7) are the only two players who’ve played 15 seasons or more with passer ratings greater than Brady’s.
He's been an All-Pro 6 times total
Brady has also only been selected to 6 All-Pro teams total, which is behind Peyton Manning (10) and Johnny Unitas (7) for the most selections for a quarterback. His 6 tie him with Brett Favre, Steve Young, Dan Marino and Sid Luckman.
But he's been to the Pro-Bowl 15 times
This is the most selections for any player in NFL history, which is an incredible feat even if Tyler Huntley is making the Pro Bowl these days.
He's been an MVP 3 times
Brady’s 3 MVP trophies are incredibly impressive. Only Peyton Manning (5) and Aaron Rodgers (4) have more.
But he's been a Super Bowl MVP 5 times
It’s corny to say it, but these are probably the MVP trophies the dude cares about more, anyway. His 5 Super Bowl MVPs are the most ever for a player at any position. It’ll probably be that way for a while.
