Australia's rising tennis star Maya Joint has been given a brutal semi-final lesson from Wimbledon champ Iga Swiatek but was still left celebrating another significant breakthrough at the Korea Open.
The Queensland-based teenager had a busy day at the rain-hit tournament in Seoul, first of all earning a terrific 6-0 6-3 win over world No.12, Denmark's Clara Tauson, in their held-over quarter-final.
But when forced to double up later on Saturday against world No.2 and top seed Swiatek, the 19-year-old found her first ever match against the six-time grand slam champion to be a somewhat chastening affair as she succumbed 6-0 6-2.
