How this year’s Nobel Prize winners heard they won – and why some ignore the call

For some of this year's Nobel Prize recipients, the life-changing news arrived with a pre-dawn knock on the door, while for others, it was a long-anticipated phone call acknowledging discoveries made decades ago.

One laureate in medicine, for instance, was reportedly on holiday in Yellowstone National Park, completely without cellular service, remaining unaware of his monumental achievement for several hours.
