A federal grand jury has indicted Houston immigration lawyer Alla Nowowiejski, 44, on charges of mail fraud and making false statements, a Justice Department announcement out of the Southern District of Texas confirms. A parallel county investigation puts the number of people she may have shortchanged well above 100.
