A fairytale château and an Art Deco icon: Inside the lavish hotels for The White Lotus season four

The hit HBO series The White Lotus has begun filming on the French Riviera.

The fourth season will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, taking place during the Cannes Film Festival, according to producers.

Shooting locations are confirmed as Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Monaco. Filming will also take place in Paris, though the story will remain along the glitzy Côte d'Azur.

The hotels chosen to feature this season include the palatial Airelles Château de la Messardière as the White Lotus du Cap, and the iconic Hôtel Martinez as the White Lotus Cannes.

Here’s a peek inside the super-luxe properties.

A fairytale château in Saint-Tropez

The Airelles Château de la Messardière, located in Saint-Tropez, looks straight out of a fairytale.

A fusion of Mediterranean villa and medieval castle, it features a central keep with turrets flanked by porticoed terraces.

The palace was built in the 19th century as a lavish wedding gift from a celebrated cavalry officer to his bride.

From these romantic beginnings, it then hosted glamorous Gatsby-esque parties of the 1920s, before its final transformation into a magnificent sea-view hotel.

The cinematic property is surrounded by a 13-hectare park planted with umbrella pines and cypress trees.

The interiors capture the light of the Mediterranean with airy spaces in pastel shades of yellow and orange and parquet floors inspired by Italian terracotta.

From the tranquillity of this hotel oasis, The White Lotus cast will be just a stone’s throw from Saint-Tropez’s beaches and legendary nightclubs, where all sorts of drama might unfold.

A hotel loved by movie stars in Cannes

Hôtel Martinez, part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, is a jewel in the crown of the Croisette, Cannes’ seafront promenade.

Built in 1929, its expansive ivory facade features Art Deco stylised reliefs and decorative balconies. The Belle Epoque vibe continues in the interior, renovated in 2017, with white lacquered furniture, geometric-patterned rugs and a giant cascading chandelier in the lobby.

The hotel has a beach club and a 600m² L’Oasis Spa by Carita, as well as the one-Michelin-star Palme d’Or restaurant, named after the premier prize awarded at the Cannes film festival.

The White Lotus cast will join a long, star-studded list of past guests, including Grace Kelly, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood and Scarlett Johansson.
