Ten of the country's foremost luminaries in Thai handicrafts will join hands to offer a dining showcase experience during the "Asamon -- Mantra Of The Craft Masters" event series, which will start next week.
Presented by Asamon, a Mon community on Koh Kret island in Nonthaburi, this is the first time to see rare and specially-crafted creations and precious collectors' items by 10 leading artists to adorn and augment elegance for the dining table.
It's a showcase for discerning collectors and aficionados of rare, meticulously crafted, limited edition handicrafts to witness how to transform an ordinary dinner into an elegant dining experience. Limited to 12 seats only, the dining showcase experience will offer a culinary feast of the best of Mon and Koh Kret's renowned cuisine whose heirloom recipes are no longer well known.
Guests will be served amid a nostalgic ambience inside the over 200-year-old Baan Din Mon Studio on Koh Kret with the legendary Chao Phraya River as backdrop.
Participants will also take home as souvenirs the handicrafts and dining utensils -- around 30 limited edition pieces -- which are crafted by the 10 masters. The name of the participating dinner guest will be carved on each piece.
They include earthenware by Phongpan Chaiyanil; praewa silk by Jitnapa Ponata; ancient metal decorative items by Boonchai Kaeban; hand-woven cloth by Paradee Wongsrichan; clay benjarong by Hatsaya Preecharat, Panida Taemjan and Saranya Saisiri; as well as silver and gold carving by Nattawut Ponherm, Narisa Choeiwatkor and Sorapat Sarapruet.
A total of 12 dinner showcases will be staged. The first is themed "Thara" and will take place on May 12. The fee is 150,000 baht per person.
