A day in the life of skincare expert Inge Theron

The minute I could afford to, I stopped having an alarm wake me up. Being startled awake spikes cortisol. Instead, my Eight Sleep mattress eases me up through gentle temperature shifts and vibrations. I usually check my sleep score on my Oura. If I’ve recovered well, I push harder that day. If I haven’t, I adjust where I can.

I’ve recently started testing the Brecka hydrogen tablets in water, which I drink first thing. Then it’s 15 minutes cuddling — my daughter’s number one non-negotiable. People expect a longevity devotee to say they cold plunge at dawn, but we cuddle and chat in bed. Connection and physical affection are some of the most evidence-backed longevity tools we have.

I don’t eat breakfast. Instead I make fresh vegetable juice, rotating through greens, orange, purples, changing it up every day and with the seasons. Plant diversity is one of the best predictors of a healthy microbiome, so eating the rainbow is a way of feeding the widest possible range of gut bacteria.

I do regular blood work and have my custom supplement stack made for me by Dr Mark Mikhail at Sæl Spa at Fulham Pier. My world is currently peptide-obsessed too, so I am testing an intra oral GHK-CU copper peptide for skin health.

I head up a design studio focused on wellbeing and over the past years our projects are increasingly global, so I run on multiple time zones and exercise consistency is tough. I’ve become a master of the 30-minute workout. What that looks like is varied: weights, a swim, a few minutes on my mini trampoline. I do reformer Pilates twice a week.

I sauna six days a week. It’s my keystone habit and I circuit between Finnish and Infrared. The infrared is wonderful after a late night, and I love the skin benefits. The Finnish I run at 90C.

I’m excited by the next wave of wellness tech for the home. I started testing the Chillshark bath chilling device, so now I can turn my bath into a cold plunge, but my favourite now is a red-light shower concept.

I use AI to articulate my vision into physical reality. We design spaces that change how you feel using light, sound and scent, taking clinical input, then allowing AI to map it into a soundscape, lightscape and smellscape.

So much of the longevity conversation is built on male physiology, so it is great to see women helping women. I follow Dr Lauren Streicher on all things menopause, women’s longevity expert Dr Vonda Wright and Dr Stacy Simms on nutrition for women.

Sleep is my kryptonite and my biggest focus. I’ve built a sleep ritual and supplement stack, anchored by a regular schedule. Keeping my body cool and wearing light PJs helps. Oura has turned guesswork into data. I’ve worked out exactly which drink I can enjoy and when: a champagne spritz at 6pm is undetectable by 10.30pm when I need to sleep, whereas red wine after 8pm wrecks me.

My sleep rules include no messages or emails in the evening. A single stressful message can cost me the night, so I switch my phone off at 9pm. I take magnesium nightly and melatonin when things get rough.

When I travel, I use FlyKitt, and yes, the glasses are a genuine gamechanger for landing in a new time zone already adjusted.

My philosophy is that ageing is modifiable, not an inevitability to endure. I support my health span while prioritising joy and avoiding guilt over a glass of wine, missed workouts or tucking into pasta.

If you adopt one of my tools, make it a sauna. Just 15 minutes, five days a week will change your life.

Inge Theron is founder of FaceGym and a consultant on the longevity and wellness programme at Fulham Pier’s new Sæl Spa
