A £400k refurbishment has started on Maesteg sports centre

A £400,000 refurbishment project has begun at Maesteg Sports Centre this month, thanks to a joint investment from Bridgend County Borough Council and Halo Leisure and Sport Wales.

The upgrade will see the development of a larger gym area, which includes new cardio machines, a strength and conditioning space and wellness zone, as well various other new equipment.

Improvement works will also be made to changing rooms, along with the installation of a new studio with training and workshop spaces.

The project comes from joint investment between Bridgend County Borough Council and Halo Leisure, which provided funding for the refurbishment with the aim of improving the physical and mental health of residents across the borough. It comes after a similar refurbishment worth £200,000 was recently completed at Pyle Swimming Pool.

Councillor Rhys Goode said: "The improvements at both Pyle Swimming Pool and Maesteg Sports Centre will play a vital role in communities across the county borough, as many residents use the facilities as a way to improve their mental health and general wellbeing."
