A 94-year-old woman from Iowa who worked at the same company for 75 years is revealing the secret to a happy, long life, according to a report.

Ann I. Schroeder started her career at Davenport Spring Company in 1949, and quickly became rooted in its evolution and culture. Schroeder credits her passion for the auto industry as the reason for staying at the same job for so many decades, as reported by KWQC.

"If you're going to take a job, don't stay at a job that you don't like. Find something that meets what you like to do and you do the best at it, because if you have a job you don't like, you'll never do the job the proper way," Schroeder told KWQC.

When Schroeder first started with the company, she focused on invoicing and bookkeeping, but says things eventually evolved and became more fast paced.

"As time went by, things became faster and faster," Schroeder told KWQC. "But my love for the job kept me coming back. There are days in your life when you don't want to go to work; we all know that. But, almost every day of my life, I wanted to go to work."

Aside from Schroeder's family being involved in the auto industry, the recent retiree also married a race car driver, making her work all the more relevant. She does admit to having spent more time at work than with friends, but is now excited to shift priorities entering retirement.

"I've been very selfish with a lot of friends. I've not had a lot of time for them because I've always been on the go to work. My work has been my preference, and so now I should be able to take the time to do it," Schroeder told the outlet.

More than 100 people attended Schroeder's retirement party.
