The Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported a tragic incident in Beit Lahiya, where an airstrike early Tuesday resulted in the deaths of 93 individuals, including 25 children. This figure is an increase from the initial count of 77 casualties, as provided by the ministry.
Local journalists have shared harrowing details, revealing that due to the dangerous conditions, some bodies are being laid to rest in makeshift graves. A distressing video captured the somber scene of a mass burial site being prepared in a local market.
One survivor, Abu Mohammad Abu Naser, recounted the devastating experience of being inside a building that was struck. He mentioned that approximately 200 individuals, spanning multiple generations, were present at the time of the attack. Tragically, Abu Naser lost his wife, four children, father, and siblings in the airstrike.
Expressing his grief, Abu Naser stated, 'Everyone is gone,' emphasizing that the majority of the occupants were members of a single extended family.
The Ministry of Health has reached out to the Israel military for clarification on the target of the strike. This incident comes amidst a renewed ground and air campaign initiated by the Israeli military in northern Gaza earlier this month.
