Some acting stars spend decades working on Emmerdale while others dip in for a short time but leave a lasting impression.
One such star is Matthew Marsden, 49, who played Daniel Weir in Emmerdale for 23 episodes back in 1995. The character of Daniel Weir was the son of Sir Thomas and Lady Vanessa Weir.
Most notably, Daniel embarked on an affair with Linda Fowler during his time in the village. As our colleagues at Birmingham Live report, in this country, Matthew Marsden is probably best known for his time later in Coronation Street.

On the cobbles, he earned lots of fans and was given 'heart-throb' status for his portrayal of mechanic Chris Collins in the 1990s. But Matthew only stayed on the cobbles for a year before setting his sights across the pond where he found fame in Hollywood.
As previously reported: “I was very fortunate to get the break of doing Coronation Street, which I loved. I was aware of the history of the show and fortunate that Brian Park (the soap’s boss then) gave me that chance.
“But after a year, I wanted to be tested, to see how far I could push myself and do different things. Some people have said I thought I was bigger than the show but I never thought that at all.”

Matthew, originally from West Bromwich, now lives in Texas with his wife, Nadine, and their seven children. Since heading to America, Matthew has appeared in some major films. The famous movies you might recognise him from include Black Hawk Down, Rambo, Resident Evil: Extinction and Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen.
Last year, he appeared in five episodes of Reacher alongside. The star acknowledges his refusal to take the covid vaccine has cost him work in recent years.
Speaking to Fox News, Matthew said: "If more people stood up and said something, then this would all stop. We are this great country, which is the last best hope for the world.
"This isn't just about this country, it's about the whole world. I know because I saw it. I know because I was there dreaming of coming here. I'm that guy. "I got offered a job…and they said there was still a requirement that you had to be vaccinated.
"I informed them that I was not vaccinated, and I submitted a religious exemption, and it was, of course, dismissed and that's that. I didn't become a citizen of this country to have my First Amendment rights and my other rights [taken away]… for me to have to worry about having to lie about something like having a vaccine, I think it's an invasion of privacy. I don't think it's right."
