There are few better scenes in all of sports than the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
No matter how the game turns out, the setting is always epic. How could it not be when you’ve got mountains, palm trees and a fully packed stadium? But the real showstopper — beyond the game itself — is the iconic sunsets over the 101-year-old arena.
Even in a College Football Playoff semifinal where No. 1 Michigan defeated No. 4 Alabama in a chaotic, 27-20 overtime contest, it was hard not to pay attention to the background, too.
Just look at some of these images and videos from another classic sundown over the Rose Bowl.
