The Best Australian Health & Wellness Podcasts

The Imperfects

(Image: The Imperfects)

Hosted by Hugh van Cuylenburg (founder of The Resilience Project), his brother Josh van Cuylenburg, and comedian Ryan Shelton, The Imperfects is easily one of Australia’s most popular podcasts. The boys do a really good job of hosting the more serious conversations that we should be having and making them accessible and digestible — with a good dose of humour. Each episode, they chat to high-profile guests (athletes, actors, experts) and create a safe space for them to share their struggles, anxieties, and insecurities, aiming to unpack the idea that imperfection is what makes us human.

An Episode We’d Recommend: Their recent episode on matressence with Dr Edna LekabeEp: ‘New Baby…New Brain… Matressence.’

You can wrap your ears around them here.

KICPod

(Image: KICPod)

Hosted by wellness legends and co-founders of the KIC wellness app, Steph Claire Smith and Laura Henshaw, the KICPod is built around the ethos of body positivity and realistic wellness. Steph and Laura dive into body image, mental health, relationships, exercise, and navigating life’s pressures in a way that feels like you’re just catching up with the girls. They also frequently spin off into mini-series, including KICBump, which covers pregnancy and motherhood.

An Episode We’d Recommend: A recent episode where the girls discuss how having kids can change friendship dynamics, including their own. Ep: Steph and Laura reflect on their hardest friendship season to date.’

Selfdom

(Image: Selfdom)

Selfdom is hosted by Australian model, content creator, and wellness advocate Dominique Elissa and explores holistic self-care, personal growth, and finding your true self. Dominique brings a warm, “big sister” energy to the mic, discussing everything from healing her own relationship with food to optimising hormones, gut health, and daily routines. She frequently brings on expert guests spanning clinical nutrition, breathwork, and female entrepreneurship, ensuring a balance between physical health and inner mindset.

An Episode We’d Recommend: Her candid interview with global fitness icon Kayla Itsines on motherhood, endometriosis, and body image. Ep: ‘Becoming Your Strongest Self With Kayla Itsines: Motherhood & Building Sweat’.

Do You F*cking Mind?

(Image: Do You F*cking Mind?)

Do You F*cking Mind? is hosted by neuroscientist, mindset coach, and author Alexis Fernandez-Preiksa. Alexis blends tough-love mindset coaching with literal brain science. She utilises her background in neuroscience to explain why we behave the way we do— covering topics like relationship red flags, self-sabotage, habit formation, and emotional resilience. It’s high-energy, direct, and incredibly practical for anyone looking to unf*ck their brain.

An Episode We’d Recommend: Her “Brain Facts” segments, specifically episodes detailing how to spot gaslighting, overcoming overthinking, and the neuroscience of things like the nervous system and emotional intelligence. Ep: ‘The Neuroscience of Emotional Intelligence’.

The Psychology of Your 20s

(Image: The Psychology of Your 20s)

The Psychology of Your 20s is an absolute powerhouse in the health and wellness space. While it has exploded into a massive global phenomenon (consistently sitting at the top of international charts and now on Netflix), it is proudly Australian-born and hosted. Jemma Sbeg takes universal, highly emotional experiences unique to this transitional decade — like friendship breakups, career anxiety, “adulting,” body image, and dating — and breaks them down using scientific studies, evolutionary biology, and cognitive behavioural theory.

An Episode We’d Recommend: Jemma tackles the modern anxiety fueled by social media that tells us we need to be multi-millionaires, CEOs, or have our lives entirely figured out by 25. Ep: ‘The Pressure to be Extraordinary in our 20s’ episode.’

ABC Health Report

(Image: Health Report)

This is the ultimate destination for medical accuracy and cutting-edge health news in Australia. Hosted by Dr Norman Swan (a household name for medical reporting) and GP Dr Preeya Alexander, the podcast cuts through the social media misinformation to dissect clinical trials, public health policy, and medical breakthroughs.

An Episode We’d Recommend: The episode that breaks down the reality of current health crazes like Peptides from a medical standpoint. Ep: ‘Peptides: who’s using them and what’s in them?’

Soberly Speaking

(Image: Soberly Speaking)

The tagline for the show says it all: “Stories from everyday people sharing their darkest moments that led to sobriety.” Instead of just looking at sobriety as a fitness or lifestyle trend (like ‘Dry July’), Soberly Speaking interrogates the why of addiction. Julia Rangiheuea interviews everyday Aussies who have survived extreme rock bottoms — spanning chronic alcoholism, severe drug abuse, eating disorders, gambling addiction, and toxic relationships — and explores the psychological breakthroughs that allowed them to find their way out. It’s gritty, incredibly moving, and deeply educational about trauma and the human spirit.

An Episode We’d Recommend: Ep: ‘180K in Debt from a Crippling Gambling Addiction’ (Henry’s Story): This episode blew up online after a guest named Henry vulnerably broke down how a hidden sports gambling addiction spiralled into hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt, tracing the behaviour back to childhood coping mechanisms, and how he finally broke the cycle.

But Are You Happy?

(Image: But Are You Happy?)

But Are You Happy? is another absolute gem from the Mamamia podcast network. Originally created and hosted by Mamamia’s Executive Editor Clare Stephens, the show has evolved over the years to a new co-hosted format featuring Ashani Dante alongside clinical psychologist Dr Anastasia Hronis. It’s now a weekly staple for anyone who wants a mix of clinical psychology and practical life advice without the fluff.

An Episode We’d Recommend: Ep: ‘The ‘Girl, It’s Not Gastro, It’s Perfectionism’ episode that explores how chronic overachieving and the fear of failure physically manifest as gut issues and body stress. (LOL, can relate).

Glass (A Mini Series from Shameless)

(Image: Shameless Media)

Glass is an incredibly moving, raw, and beautifully crafted three-part audio documentary series created by Michelle Andrews, the co-founder of Shameless Media. It’s an intimate, vulnerable, and brutally honest exploration of family, reproductive health, infertility, the emotional rollercoaster of IVF, the devastation of pregnancy loss, and the compounding reality of birth trauma. It’s an important listen and one we’d highly encourage listening to.

You can listen to the Glass mini-series here.
