An 89-year-old woman who has cared for a street garden outside her home in St John's Wood, central London, for more than 25 years has been told by Westminster City Council to remove a bench and more than 20 plant pots from the pavement. Katharine Hoskyns received a removal notice from the council in July. The dispute has since led to a petition started by her son, which has collected more than 190 signatures.
According to the BBC, Hoskyns created the garden after parking spaces were introduced on the street. Over the years, she has grown geraniums, tomatoes and herbs with help from neighbours.
