85% seats in Chandigarh pool for MBBS course at Government Medical College and Hospital

CHANDIGARH: The UT administration has formulated the eligibility criteria for admissions to MBBS course at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, reserving 85% seats in UT pool and 15% in Central pool, said UT adviser Dharam Pal here on Tuesday.

The central pool seats are filled by the central government while the UT pool seats locally by the admission committee as per the criteria fixed by the UT.

Recently, some court cases had been filed in the Punjab and Haryana high court challenging the exceptions/waiver of domicile to wards of defence personnel for admission against UT pool seats.

Dharam Pal said the issue was examined and deliberated in a series of meetings. “With the approval of the UT administrator, it was decided to revise the eligibility criteria for admission to MBBS course in GMCH against UT pool,” he said.
